When Grief Meets Grace

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 (KJV)

🌿 Reflection

There are moments when grief arrives like a wave you didn’t see coming — even years later. You think you’re steady, and then suddenly, the ache returns. It’s not weakness; it’s love that has nowhere to go.

Before your loss, God was already drawing you closer — slowly preparing your heart, anchoring you in His Word before the storm hit. You didn’t even know He was equipping you to walk through the unimaginable.

It wasn’t about being ready to face loss — no one ever truly is — but about being rooted in Him when the world fell apart.

And now, even when the pain feels fresh, His presence is familiar. You’ve learned the sound of His comfort. The same God who met you in the waters of baptism met you again in the depths of sorrow, and He hasn’t left you once.

Grief has a way of bringing us face-to-face with both the fragility of life and the faithfulness of God. You may not understand why, but you are living proof that His love can hold what the world cannot fix.

🕊️ Prayer

Lord, thank You for being near when the ache feels unbearable. You knew what my heart would face before I did. Help me remember that Your love didn’t leave when AJ left this world — it only deepened, stretching across eternity. Hold me when memories flood in, and remind me that this story doesn’t end in loss. It ends in reunion, in light, and in Your presence. Amen.

“You may not be the same person you were before grief, but the person you’re becoming is deeply known and deeply loved by God.”
