Our Story
This is our family’s story of grief, grace, and the hope we have in Jesus.
Wholehearted Legacy was created to share the hope of Jesus Christ—even in seasons of loss, waiting, and deep healing.
From Heartbreak to Hope
Wholehearted Legacy began as a very personal story—a family holding on to Jesus in the middle of grief, and choosing to remember AJ with love, faith, and hope. What started as a way to walk alongside Isabella and Caleb, to keep their dad’s light shining, has become a gentle invitation for others to draw near to Christ in their own hard seasons.
In 2023, we experienced the unimaginable loss of AJ—a beloved son, brother, father, and friend. There are still days that feel heavy and raw, days when the ache of missing him is almost too much to put into words. We are still learning how to live in that tension: loving God deeply, trusting His promises, and yet waking up each morning with a heart that still grieves.
Some days we feel strong; other days we simply whisper, “Lord, help us make it through today.” Yet even there, in the quiet tears and unspoken questions, we have seen God’s grace hold us. He has been the One who sits with us in the dark and gently reminds us that this is not the end of AJ’s story—or ours.
Our hope is anchored in the promise that this life is not all there is. We cling to the truth that, because of Jesus, we will see AJ again in paradise. That hope does not erase the pain, but it steadies us. It gives us a reason to keep going, to keep loving, to keep pointing others to the One who turns ashes into beauty and sorrow into a deeper kind of strength.
Wholehearted Legacy exists so that anyone walking through grief, change, or uncertainty can find encouragement, gentle guidance, and Christ-centered resources that point back to the heart of God. We pray that as you read, study, and reflect, you will feel less alone and more deeply held by the Savior who sees every tear.
“To all who mourn… He will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair.”
Isaiah 61:3Even on the hardest days, we are trusting that joy will come in the morning, and that God will use AJ’s story—and ours—to shine His light into someone else’s darkness.
